Square & True makes hand-built kitchens for Georgian townhouses, weatherboarded farmhouses, period rectories and architect-designed homes across Essex — drawn in-house and made at our workshop at Mickfield in Suffolk, an easy run up the A12.
Essex houses, drawn one room at a time
Essex sits between the workshop and our London work, so the county is on the regular route. Surveys, sample approvals at the house and a fitting programme run by our own fitters are all straightforward, and you deal with the same people from first visit to handover.
Every kitchen is drawn for the room, made bench by bench at Mickfield and hand-painted by brush. Drawer boxes are dovetailed oak. Nothing is subcontracted, and every kitchen carries a ten-year guarantee. Square & True is the kitchen brand of Reeve & Co Interiors, the joinery company at the same address.
Much of the Essex work is in period and listed buildings — Saffron Walden, Dunmow, Ingatestone, Brentwood and the villages around Chelmsford and Colchester — where new cabinetry has to answer original beams, uneven floors and historic proportions rather than a standard carcase size.

One workshop, one team, no subcontractors
The workshop is on Stonham Road, Mickfield, Stowmarket IP14 5LS. Essex clients are welcome to visit by appointment — standing in the bench shop and the finishing room is the quickest way to judge the standard before committing to a programme.
Doors and frames are hand-painted by brush rather than sprayed, so the finish keeps a little texture and can be touched in years later. Drawer boxes are dovetailed oak throughout, and aftercare is a phone call to the workshop.

Survey
We come to the house, measure properly and work out how the room needs to run before anything is drawn.
Drawings
Plans, elevations and details: cabinetry, appliances, worktops, finishes and any adjoining rooms, agreed before making starts.
Workshop
Made bench by bench at Mickfield, hand-painted by brush, with dovetailed oak drawer boxes throughout.
Fitting and aftercare
Installed by our own fitters, then a ten-year guarantee and aftercare direct from the workshop.

Do you really cover Essex?
Yes. Essex sits between the Mickfield workshop and our London work, so we are on the A12 constantly. Surveys, sample approvals and fitting are part of the normal programme.
How long does a kitchen take?
Fourteen to twenty weeks from agreed brief to installation, plus the design stage before that. You get a written programme before anything is made.
What does a Square & True kitchen cost?
Kitchens start at £45,000. Most land between £65,000 and £120,000, depending on the size of the room, the range and the worktops.
Which parts of Essex do you cover?
All of it — Chelmsford, Colchester, Saffron Walden, Ingatestone, Brentwood, Dunmow, Maldon and the villages between, plus the London fringe.
