What Norfolk houses usually ask for

Generous larders, painted cabinetry, room for a range cooker, a proper scullery and storage that works in a house that entertains. It is a brief we draw often, and it suits a workshop that makes furniture rather than assembles units.

Every kitchen is drawn for the room, made bench by bench at Mickfield and hand-painted by brush, with dovetailed oak drawer boxes throughout and a ten-year guarantee. Our own fitters install it and nothing is subcontracted. Square & True is the kitchen brand of Reeve & Co Interiors, the joinery company at the same address.

Norwich is a straight run up the A140 from the workshop, and we work across the county regularly — Wymondham, Diss, Holt, Fakenham, Burnham Market, King’s Lynn and the north coast. Barn conversions and listed farmhouses are the usual setting, where cabinetry has to answer original beams, uneven floors and awkward proportions.

Ranges we adapt to Norfolk houses

Seven ranges are the starting point, and every one is redrawn for the room it is going into rather than picked off a page. One of them is called The Norfolk — painted in-frame in strong colour against unpainted oak — though any of the seven can be built for a house in the county.

The Farmhouse

A workshop you can actually visit

The workshop is on Stonham Road, Mickfield, Stowmarket IP14 5LS — about an hour from Norwich. Visitors are welcome by appointment, and standing in the bench shop and the finishing room is the quickest way to judge the standard before committing to a programme.

Doors and frames are hand-painted by brush rather than sprayed, so the finish keeps a little texture and can be touched in years later. Drawer boxes are dovetailed oak throughout, and aftercare is a phone call to the workshop.

How a Norfolk kitchen is made

Survey

We come to the house, measure properly and work out how the room needs to run before anything is drawn.

Drawings

Plans, elevations and details: cabinetry, appliances, worktops, finishes and any adjoining rooms, agreed before making starts.

Workshop

Made bench by bench at Mickfield, hand-painted by brush, with dovetailed oak drawer boxes throughout.

Fitting and aftercare

Installed by our own fitters, then a ten-year guarantee and aftercare direct from the workshop.

Is Norfolk too far for you?

No. Norwich is straight up the A140 from Mickfield and we work across the county regularly. Surveys, sample approvals and fitting are part of the normal programme.

How long does a kitchen take?

Fourteen to twenty weeks from agreed brief to installation, plus the design stage before that. You get a written programme before anything is made.

What does a Square & True kitchen cost?

Kitchens start at £45,000. Most land between £65,000 and £120,000, depending on the size of the room, the range and the worktops.

Which parts of Norfolk do you cover?

All of it — Norwich, Wymondham, Diss, Holt, Fakenham, Burnham Market, King’s Lynn and the coast.
